Bio:

Dr. Matos is a Black Brazilian scholar with a focus on James Baldwin literature and is currently a Postdoc Fellow in the Department of Africana Studies at the University of New Mexico. She also holds a PhD in Literature and Social Practices (2021) and a master’s in history - Society, Politics, and Culture (2017), both conferred by the University of Brasília (UnB). She furthered her academic pursuits with a lato-sensu specialization in Literature and Contemporary Media (2018) and History, Narratives, and Identities (2022). Her educational journey also includes a bachelor’s degree in history (2013) from the State University of Goiás (UEG). As a dedicated scholar, Dr. Matos has been an active member of two esteemed research groups: Mayombe (African and Afro-descendant literature) since 2018 and GPTEC - Research Group on Technical Images (CNPq) since 2012. Her research interests span the intersections of History and Literature, with a focus on pivotal themes such as Decoloniality, African Diaspora, History of Contemporary Literature, Contemporary Literature, and the dynamic relationship between Literature and New Media.
